Airbnb head stated that ChatGPT is not reliable enough for their platform

Airbnb head Brian Chesky just publicly told that ChatGPT isn’t good enough for their platform yet. Think about it – we live in 2025, AI supposedly is conquering the world. And one of the largest tech companies states: “Sorry guys, but the SDK isn’t reliable enough for what we want to do.”

And this despite the Airbnb head being personally friends with Sam Altman from OpenAI! But even friendship doesn’t save from harsh reality: the technology is still raw. But Airbnb already launched their own chatbot. True, assembled from 13 different models, with the foundation being the Chinese system Qwen from Alibaba. Interesting turn, isn’t it?

And now the most curious thing. Chesky simultaneously says that ChatGPT isn’t ready, but at the same time states that we’re on the threshold of an AI revolution. Which will spawn a wave of new consumer applications in coming years! And adds philosophically that companies will have to work together because vertically integrating absolutely everything will be extremely difficult.

So what turns out? According to Airbnb head Brian Chesky, the revolution is in full swing, but the tools for it don’t work properly yet. And between loud hype and harsh reality there’s a chasm the size of the Grand Canyon.
