Alibaba Cloud launches strategic data center in Thailand

Alibaba Cloud, the technology division of Alibaba Group, announced the launch of its second data center in Thailand, strengthening its position as a leading cloud service provider in Southeast Asia. The new facility aims to meet growing demand for cloud computing, especially in generative artificial intelligence, and support government initiatives for digital innovation development.

“Our new data center reinforces our commitment to providing reliable, secure, and high-performance cloud services tailored to local business needs,” said Sean Yuan, Vice President of International Business and General Manager of Alibaba Cloud Intelligence for Thailand, Indonesia, Japan, Philippines, and South Pacific region.

With the opening of the new facility, Alibaba Cloud’s global infrastructure has reached impressive scale: 86 availability zones in 28 regions worldwide. This significant expansion since the company’s first data center launch in Thailand in 2022 demonstrates the region’s strategic importance to the tech giant.

Alibaba Cloud pays special attention to security and regulatory compliance. The company holds more than 140 security and compliance certifications worldwide, ensuring maximum protection and resilience of cloud services. Having two data centers in Thailand will enable scalability, flexibility, and high availability of cloud computing products with improved disaster recovery capabilities.

The new infrastructure is particularly important for developing generative AI technologies and industry solutions in the region. The company is already showing significant success in improving operational efficiency for local clients in technology, media, fintech, and retail sectors.
