Apple introduced Live Translation for real-time translation

Apple introduced Live Translation technology — a revolutionary real-time translation function for key communication applications: Messages, FaceTime and Phone. This is a real revolution in how we communicate across language barriers.

In Messages the system works strikingly elegantly: you write in your native language, and your interlocutor instantly receives the message in their own. No additional actions, no delays — the technology seamlessly transforms text right during typing. And replies are automatically translated back.

FaceTime has been enriched with live subtitles with translation. Now you hear your interlocutor’s original voice and simultaneously see translated text on screen. Imagine how much this will simplify video conferences with foreign colleagues or heartfelt conversations with friends from other countries.

But the most impressive solution is implemented in Phone — here full voice translation of the entire conversation works. Apparently, this functionality will also be available through headphones, making the user experience even more natural. The technology works on Apple’s own language models.

The key advantage of the technology is privacy. All Apple language models function exclusively on the device, without sending data to external servers.
