Google launched AI agent that calls stores and places orders

Google is turning AI into a personal shopper that doesn’t just search for products. But calls stores and places orders for you. Users in the US are already getting access to new features that change the very logic of online shopping.

Let’s start with conversational search. Now you can write “women’s sweaters that can be worn with pants or dresses”, and then simply add “more options in gray tones”. No filters and no query reformulation.

Further, you can click on cards, visit seller sites, view price history and track their changes right in AI mode. Sponsored ads will also be in the results. That is, advertising doesn’t disappear anywhere.

But the most unexpected is the agent AI feature called “Let Google call”. It allows users to direct calls to local stores to learn about products, stock availability or sales. When the AI agent calls, it informs the store that this is an automated call. Sellers can refuse the conversation. After the call, the user will receive a text message or email with collected information.

It turns out that AI now not only helps search. It calls, bargains and will even buy. And we just wait for the delivery notification.
