Historic milestone: Amazon’s millionth robot delivered to Japan

Amazon reached a historic milestone! And after 13 years of implementing robots in its warehouse facilities, the company announced reaching the mark of 1 million robotic devices. The millionth robot was recently delivered to an Amazon warehouse in Japan.

This number brings Amazon closer to another important indicator. Soon an equal number of robots and humans could be working in the company’s warehouse network. According to The Wall Street Journal, already now 75% of all global Amazon deliveries are carried out with the help of robots.

Along with this achievement, the company introduced a new artificial intelligence model called DeepFleet for its warehouse robots. This system can more efficiently coordinate robot routes inside warehouses. Which will allow increasing the working speed of the robotic fleet by 10%.

To create DeepFleet, the company used the Amazon SageMaker platform. An AWS cloud studio that helps develop and implement artificial intelligence models. The model was trained on Amazon’s own data about warehouses and inventory.
