“No one should retire”: Brin on breakthrough in AI

One of the most notable moments at the Google I/O conference was the presentation by Sergey Brin, who recently returned to the company after almost 5 years of absence. Now Google’s co-founder is actively working on projects in the field of artificial intelligence, particularly on multimodal technologies and the Veo project.

In his interview, Brin revealed the company’s ambitious goal — to make Gemini the first artificial general intelligence, or AGI. He emphasized: “I returned to Google not because of the race, but to become part of the most significant breakthrough of our time. Now no one who works in the field of computing should retire.”

Brin spends practically every day at Google’s Mountain View office, where he directly helps the Gemini team with various multimodal projects, including the recently presented video generation model Veo 3.

His return has given the company new momentum in the artificial intelligence technology race. It is known that Brin has taken a rather demanding position regarding the work process. Insisting that employees should be present in the office every weekday. In his opinion, a 60-hour work week is probably optimal for maintaining high productivity.
