Nvidia is building monopoly through investments in startups on its chips

Nvidia has turned into a venture machine that works faster than classic funds. Bloomberg reports that in 2025 the company supported 59 startups from the AI sphere. And these are not just investments – this is a strategy for controlling the entire ecosystem.

Just in the last month Nvidia conducted at least 10 deals. For comparison, for the entire last year the company made 55 investments. And 3 years ago it conducted only 10 such deals per year.

Nvidia became the main beneficiary of AI infrastructure. Its chips are the foundation for training models. And now the company is cementing its position through venture bets. The logic is simple: Nvidia wants startups to build products on its chips. Investments are a way to ensure that’s what will happen.

Meanwhile Nvidia’s bets on startups can be significantly larger than those of traditional funds. The company conducts its investments faster than a number of specialized venture structures. Its portfolio already includes OpenAI, Perplexity and other big names.

It turns out that Nvidia doesn’t just sell hardware. It’s building a vertically integrated ecosystem where it controls both hardware and software, as well as startups that will define the industry’s future. The strategy allows the company to support the AI ecosystem and strengthen its monopoly.

It seems Nvidia has become one of the key players in the venture market. And the company is moving toward becoming not just a chip supplier, but the architect of the entire AI industry.
