OpenAI bought Sky program for macOS before public release
OpenAI bought the company Software Applications Incorporated, creators of the Sky program for macOS. And you know what’s most interesting about this news? The product wasn’t even released to the public. OpenAI acquired the development at a stage when ordinary users hadn’t seen it yet.
Sky – this is a natural language interface for Mac that works with you throughout the day. When you write, plan, program or manage tasks. The program understands what’s happening on your screen and can perform actions in your applications. Essentially, this is an analog of AI browsers, only for the entire operating system.
Nick Turley, vice president and head of ChatGPT direction at OpenAI, explained the strategy: “We’re building a future where ChatGPT doesn’t just answer queries, but helps solve tasks. Sky’s deep integration with Mac accelerates our goal – to bring AI directly into the tools people use every day.”
OpenAI plans to embed Sky’s deep integration with macOS and the team’s product mastery directly into ChatGPT. All team members will join the company.
So perhaps OpenAI’s next step – is creating their own AI-based operating system.
