OpenAI launched group chats in ChatGPT for all plans

OpenAI announced the global launch of group chats in ChatGPT. The feature underwent testing with a limited number of users and is now available to everyone who logs into an account. Plans Free, Go, Plus and Pro are supported. That is, the format is designed not only for corporate teams but also for regular users.

Group chats allow multiple people to communicate in one dialogue together with the model. Participants see the entire message history, can share files, ask common questions, and the AI responds to consider the context of the discussion, not individual remarks.

OpenAI notes that the feature can be used for collective work on projects, brainstorming, learning, event planning. Or writing code in team-plus-assistant mode.

Group work repeats the familiar mechanics of chats in messengers, but with additional assistant functions. In the future, advanced capabilities for access and role management will appear, especially for business accounts.

The interface is integrated directly into ChatGPT. When creating a new dialogue, participants can be added and an invitation sent. No separate applications or corporate licenses are required.

It turns out OpenAI is essentially turning ChatGPT into a messenger with AI inside. This can give the company a serious advantage over competitors. Where collective AI is more often integrated into expensive corporate platforms.
