Tinder launched double dates: AI assembles teams of 4 people
Tinder app launched a double date function that allows users to team up with friends to find pairs. Now you can invite up to 3 friends and together browse profiles of other so-called teams. That have at least 1 match in individual preferences.
How does it work? When 1 person from the pair gets a match, a group chat with all 4 participants is automatically created. While maintaining the possibility to like a separate profile for personal 1-on-1 communication. Plus they said there that artificial intelligence checks interests, data and matches by preferences.
Cleo Long, head of Tinder’s product marketing department, notes that during testing, users felt more comfortable communicating in pairs with a friend. This led to more active interaction. The group format helps relieve tension and simplifies planning meetings – whether friendly gatherings or romantic dates.
According to them, users in group chats send 25% more messages than in regular conversations. And the total volume of messages in such chats is 35% higher, especially among audiences under 29 years old.
This is Tinder’s response to a 5% decline in the number of paid subscribers.
