US declared Huawei Ascend chips outlawed worldwide

The just emerging signs of warming relations between the US and China quickly evaporated with the appearance of new American laws. Now Ascend chips from Huawei are effectively declared outlaws.

The innovations provide for unprecedented measures. Just think about it!!! The use of a Chinese Ascend chip in any country in the world will be considered a violation of US export control rules. And the sanctions for violators of the new rules look extremely serious. Up to imprisonment. Just no words!

According to the South China Morning Post, this is the first time that US government documents directly mention Huawei’s advanced processor line.

Market analysts are already talking about the formation of a clear dividing line. A so-called technological Rubicon, crossing which will require making an unambiguous choice. Either you work with the Chinese ecosystem, or with the American one. There is no third option. At the same time, senior analyst of the influential organization Economist Intelligence Unit Chim Lee predicts the inevitability of retaliatory steps from China if the US strictly adheres to the stated course.

And it’s clear why. Of particular concern to the American side is the fact that Ascend processors are specially optimized for artificial intelligence tasks. And can significantly strengthen China’s position in this strategically important area.

It turns out that we will observe an accelerated technological decoupling spiral. Within which China will intensify the creation of a completely closed chain of chip development and production. As well as form an alternative global market for its technological solutions.
