YouTube offers free AI-generated music
YouTube is launching a revolutionary feature that allows creators to create unique instrumental music using artificial intelligence for their videos. The company announced this in an update on its Creator Insider channel.
The new tool integrates with Creator Music – a platform for licensing commercial music launched in 2023. Unlike the marketplace’s paid content, AI-created music will be completely free and free from copyright issues.
Content creators will get access to a new “Music Assistant” tab where they can describe the desired music through text prompts. The system allows users to specify particular instruments, mood, video type, and other parameters. For user convenience, ready-made suggestions with example requests are provided.
Generated tracks can be downloaded and used in videos without fear of receiving a strike for copyright infringement. Currently, the feature is available to American creators participating in the YouTube Partner Program.
This launch follows YouTube’s previous experiment with the “Dream Track” feature, powered by DeepMind’s Lyria system, which allowed creating 30-second music tracks in the style of famous performers. However, the new feature focuses exclusively on instrumental music.
