Imagry created a drone without HD maps

Imagry company created a unique autonomous control technology that works without HD maps. This engineering marvel is based on a bio-inspired approach that mimics human perception and decision-making. Imagine — the system sees the road with eye-cameras and makes decisions with a brain-neural network, exactly like an experienced driver!

The uniqueness of Imagry’s solution lies in its location independence — autonomous vehicles can instantly start working on completely unfamiliar roads. They use inexpensive sensors and completely eliminate the need for constant satellite connection or multi-million investments in HD mapping of roads and cities.

Technologically, the system is divided into 2 key components. The perception module — this is a real-time image recognition system. Which uses video streams from cameras to create a reliable 3D map of the environment within a 300-meter radius around the vehicle. The motion planning module — this is a deep convolutional neural network trained to imitate human driver behavior. Producing instructions for responding to the current traffic situation.

Imagry’s software is already being integrated by Continental into their autonomous driving platform! One function — autonomous parking, allowing the vehicle to independently explore parking areas, detect suitable spots and park without driver participation.
