NVIDIA lures away TSMC engineers offering $180,000 per year
An unusual conflict is flaring up between NVIDIA and TSMC companies. American corporation NVIDIA is actively poaching engineers from its own Taiwanese manufacturing partner. And specialists from Taiwan are being offered a salary of $180,000 per year, annual bonuses and attractive stock options. NVIDIA currently has 97 open positions in Taiwan.
The situation looks particularly interesting considering the close cooperation between companies. TSMC produces Blackwell processors for NVIDIA, which form the basis of a new artificial intelligence chip being developed for China to replace the H20 model. Americans are even building a supercomputer on the island together with Foxconn and plan to provide its capabilities to TSMC for research and development.
The reason for the talent hunt is simple. NVIDIA is launching its second research and development center in Taiwan, where it’s luring talented specialists. This situation raises a serious question for host countries. Should they rejoice at foreign investments? If they turn a key national security industry into a field of competitive struggle. This is especially relevant for Taiwan, where the semiconductor industry serves as a kind of shield from political instability in the region.

Google company released a report on Health AI Agents of 150 pages. That's 7,000 annotations, over 1,100 hours of expert work. Link in description. Numbers impressive, yes. But the point isn't in metrics. The point is they buried the very idea of an omnipotent AI doctor. And this is perhaps the most honest thing that happened in this industry recently.
You know what's considered a fun prank among teenagers now? Sending parents a photo of a homeless vagrant in their own living room. AI draws it, TikTok approves it, and let parents have hysteria. That's the kind of fun going around social media.
California became the first state to officially shut up AI companion chatbots. Governor Gavin Newsom signed a historic law that requires operators of such bots to implement safety protocols.
