OpenAI launches Operator in international markets

OpenAI has announced a major international launch of its AI agent Operator, which will become available to ChatGPT Pro subscribers in nine countries, including Australia, Brazil, Canada, India, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, and the United Kingdom. Notably, the service will not yet operate in EU countries, Switzerland, Norway, Liechtenstein, and Iceland.

Operator, launched in January 2025 in the US, is a universal AI assistant capable of performing a wide range of tasks from booking tickets and restaurant tables to processing expense reports and making purchases on e-commerce sites.

Currently, the service is only available to ChatGPT Pro premium subscribers at $200 per month through a special webpage. Operator works in a separate browser window, with users able to take control at any time. OpenAI plans to integrate Operator functionality into all ChatGPT clients in the future.

The AI agent market is becoming increasingly competitive: Google, Anthropic, and Rabbit are also developing similar solutions. However, Google’s project is still in waitlist mode, Anthropic provides access to the agent interface only through API, and Rabbit’s action model is exclusively available to the company’s device owners.

Experts note that Operator’s international launch marks an important stage in the development of AI agent technologies, making them more accessible to a global audience. The ability to perform real tasks in the digital space could significantly impact how users interact with online services and manage their daily affairs.
