Pavel Durov introduced Cocoon – decentralized network for launching AI

Telegram head Pavel Durov spoke at the Blockchain Life conference in Dubai and presented his new project called Cocoon there. And this is an attempt to challenge big corporations’ monopoly on AI.

Cocoon – this is one decentralized and confidential computing network. The main idea behind product creation is that all the largest AI-based solutions belong to big corporations and are controlled by them. Cocoon should become fully decentralized. “According to Pavel and his team’s vision, neither governments, nor regulatory bodies, nor large companies will have influence on it”.

Cocoon should allow developers worldwide to launch both full-fledged neural networks and AI-based solutions. Without having their own infrastructure – like an expensive server base, for example. And without help from large centralized corporations like OpenAI.

How will Cocoon work? Owners of powerful graphics cards will connect to the Cocoon network. And developers of AI-based applications will use their capacity. And graphics card owners will be able to earn from this.

Pavel announced that all data in the Cocoon network will be encrypted, meaning no one will see which specific requests are being processed and by whom exactly these requests are made. Which essentially makes this network confidential. Launch of the Cocoon main network is planned for November.
