
Rainbow Robotics will show humanoid robot RB-Y1 at ICRA conference
South Korean company Rainbow Robotics will present an interesting humanoid robot RB-Y1 at the ICRA conference in Atlanta. The system combines a mobile wheeled platform with an advanced two-arm manipulator system.
The technical architecture is impressive. 7 degrees of freedom in each arm, 6 axes in the torso, and the ability to change height by more than 50 centimeters. Maximum movement speed is 9 kilometers per hour while maintaining balance through active redistribution of the center of gravity.
The robot is already being tested at leading universities worldwide, such as MIT, UC Berkeley, and Georgia Tech. Industrial companies around the world are also implementing the system into production processes.
At the exhibition, RB-Y1 will receive 2 critical updates. The Mecanum wheel system will provide omnidirectional movement at 360 degrees. A new SDK will allow flexible integration of external modules – inertial measurement units, lidars, and grippers.
And perhaps the emergence of such systems is the transition from industrial automation to universal assistants. And the humanoid robot RB-Y1 demonstrates the maturation of humanoid robotics to the level of practical industrial solutions with real economic consequences.
