Yann LeCun called Anthropic’s head an immoral “doomer” with a complex

Yann LeCun, one of the founders of modern artificial intelligence and scientific director of Meta, made sharp criticism of Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, calling him an immoral “doomer” with a superiority complex.

LeCun published a meme on Threads social network, ironizing over so-called “artificial intelligence boomers” – people who, in his opinion, excessively exaggerate the dangers of modern artificial intelligence technologies. In comments to the publication, he was asked whether he considers Dario Amodei to belong to this category.

LeCun’s answer was merciless. He confirmed that he considers Anthropic’s head a “doomer”, but at the same time noted a paradox. Amodei continues to develop strong artificial intelligence despite his public warnings. In LeCun’s opinion, this could mean either intellectual dishonesty and moral corruption of Amodei, or his having a huge superiority complex.

LeCun suggested that Anthropic’s leader considers only himself sufficiently enlightened to access advanced artificial intelligence systems, while, I quote, “unwashed masses” are supposedly too stupid or immoral to use such powerful tools.
